Studi Penggunaan Antimikroba Golongan Fluorokuinolon Di Departemen Penyakit Dalam Rumkital Dr. Ramelan Surabaya

INTRODUCTION : Fluoroquinolones is one of the most antimicrobial frequently prescribed by doctor. It used to treat many disease because it has broad spectrum activities, good bioavailability and well tolerated side effects. PURPOSE : To find out kind of fluoroquinolones was used and what they were used for. Fluoroquinolones usage appropriateness and any interactions that potential were studied. METHODS : Retrospective observation was using medical records from patient who receive fluoroquinolones when they were at hospital from January to February 2006. RESULTS : 57 patient included in this study, they were consists of 50,88% male and 49,12% female. Fluoroquinolones was used to treat DHF and susp DHF (42,11%), thyphoid (7,02%), febris (5,26%) and many other diagnosis. It was used as monotheraphy or as combination with other antimicobials. From this 57 patients, 18 patients had appropriate use, and only 9 patients who had a better condition when they were discharged. DISCUSSIONS : Fluoroquinolones had been used to treat many disease, although they didn't need antimicrobial theraphy. It could be seen at patients who didn't have infection signs at their medical records. In this situation, antimicrobial usage was mean to empiric or prophylaxis therapy CONCLUSIONS : Fluoroquinolones was used extensively, it could minimize doctor's antimicrobial alternatives to treat severe infection. To prevent this situation, fluoroquinolones usage should limited based on hospitals formulary and microbials test should be done to provide more information before using antimicrobials as empiric theraphy.
